Help Needed -Dell Screen

Turned on my laptop (Dell Studio 15) this morning to find a blank screen. I plugged a monitor into it and everything is working fine. Now I know a bit about putting computers together but not a thing about laptops, all the same I'm going to have a go at ordering a new screen and fixing it myself, if indeed a new screen is needed.

The help I need is this: The screen isn't cracked at all so what is the problem likely to be? Could it just be a loose connection that is a very simple fix or might it be more sinister? I appreciate it's nigh on impossible to judge without seeing inside the laptop but if anyone has had a similar experience I'd be interested to know what the issue was. Cheers.

Ca you see anything on the laptop screen under a bright light? If so it might be a backlight problem, so could just be the inverter (if it's a conventional non-LED backlit screen) not the whole screen.

Had a check under a bright lamp but didn't appear to be anything there, thanks for the suggestion though. Think I might just buy a replacement screen and have a go at replacing it myself, doesn't seem too daunting a prospect judging by the service manual.

Does anyone know a decent place to buy replacement screens?

Edit...think I'll have a go at replacing the inverter first seeing as it's so cheap.

When I opened the laptopm up to replace the inverter the data cable for the display was a little loose. Problem solved!
