Help needed desperately

Hi guys,
Hoping someone can help me out here because I don't know what to do next. System as in sig. Been running at 2.7Ghz quite happily with just an increase to the fsb. Last night I thought I'd see if I could get it to go higher. I dropped the multiplier down to 6x and upped the fsb to 280. I left everything else as it was bar increasing the vcore by 1 step. Rebooted and nothing. Screen just stayed blank. So I turned it off and powered back up again. Comes up with bad checksum and starts looking for bios.
So this morning I downloaded the bios from asus and put it on a cd. Turned on and it found the new bios and did its thing then said to power down and reboot to get system back. Did that and it still comes up bad checksum and reprograms the bios again. Won't do anything else.
Anyone got any ideas? I tearing what's left of my hair out here, praying i haven't borked the board.

have you tried a cmos reset ?

should be a jumper on your motherboard... that would be the first thing i would do.

I thought if the bios was rewritten I wouldn't need to do that but I'll give it a go. Thanks

That worked. I thought if I rewrote the bios I wouldn't need to. What a muppet!

There are two parts to the bios, the actual program and the variable values, reloading the bios firmware rewrites the actual program area, the variable values are not usually changed, the reset bios link resets all the variable values to known safe settings from the bios program.
