Help

I have just built up my new bundle from OcUK:

Abit IX38 QuadGT mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo
2x x1GB OCZ Dimms

and it wont start

The POST code reports an 8.3 "error" (?) in respect of which the manual says "ATX Power supply ready" the machine also repeatedly beeps (twice) over and over again and will not boot or respond to anything except a power off

Can anyone help to interpret what an 8.3 and these double-beeps mean ?

Thanks

Chris

which exact OCZ RAM & more importantly which PSU?
Might as well say which exact C2D too.
The 8.3. is usually a PSU problem of some kind though.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.
The exact bundle of bits is here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-087-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat=

The PSU is an Antec 430P and has a few years of active service behind it. Maybe it is faulty in some way? Not sure how to test it as it IS supplying some power to the mobo.

BTW the beeps I am getting (while "8.3" is displayed in the POST LEDs) are one long and one short, which the web refs I can see talk of a DRAM error

Any thoughts very welcome

Chris

Try taking out 1 DIMM but I really think that you need to try a quality modern PSU.
Have you got any drives etc. connected?
Some PSU's require a load on the other rails before they will fire up.
