Just picked up one of those 4000+ SD chips very cheaplay as well as a 512mb X1800XT and Abit KN8 Ultra (not so cheaply) and have cobbled it altogether !!
Now i want to OC it but haven't OC'd an AMD chip since the days of drawing lines on them with pencils !!! :(

My mate said they're like P4's now in that you can only increase the FSB and RAM timimngs. In my P4 system, all i did was lock the AGP frequesncy and cranck up the FSB to get 3.3ghz out of the 3Ghz chip. Is that all i need to do with this ?

I've took the Corsairs TwinX 3200c2pt RAM from my p4 system that runs at 2-3-3-6. Should i leave those settings alone ? The ram hit 220 at these settings in my P4

Thanks for any help

That chip should oc very nicely. Your friends more or less right, just up the fsb till it becomes unstable then up the vcore a little and keep going. Also put the htt multi to 4x or if your going over 250fsb 3x and you'll also probably have to run a divider on you ram.

make sure that you lock the pci etc , needs to be async.

yeah no reason to mess about with them, unless you get issues tbh.

Cheers guys, this all seems a bit easy though.........

All i have done is up the FSB from 200 to 225 (can't find RAM dividers anywhere so i assume it's runng at a 1:1 ratio ?) and the chip is now running at 2700.....on the stock fan......with no increase to voltage........in an Antec Overture 2 case....... :).
I have left all the voltages at "Default" and all the RAM settings are "Auto"

I know the obvious answer is "try it" but how high is this thing likely to go ????

Don't be fooled, my cpu will post as high as 270mhz fsb, but it is not stable at all at that, make sure you either Prime 95 it, or the more fun option is to play some decent games for an hour or two.

FEAR will make your CPU sweat like a b****. Or Black & White 2.

I've just tested my CPU for the past 8 hours with Prime95 now that I've made alterations to the cooling setup.

No fun sitting around making sure its stable - better off playing games :P

Cheers again.
I've already completed FEAR (several times) so thought i would give Oblivion a try. Played that for 2 hours and nothing went wrong so that must be a good sign !! :)
