Hi, i am competly new to the art of overclocking and decided to start small and cheap incase i screw everything up. I have an amd 5000+ BE processor and an asus m3a mobo with 3gb corsair ram. i started with the multiplyer in the bios and worked slowley up from x13 to x15 (3.0ghz) so far i have not changed anything else because quite frankly im not 100% sure how.
to test my overclock im using prime95 to run a 'torture test' and installed cpu-z and an asus mobo probe to keep check on hardware tempretures and fan speeds etc. after 10 mins on the torture test my cpu hits a temp of 53c and my first core fails but the second keeps ticking on nicely. i thought that a cpu could hit 75c before failing if it had to so not sure if its the temp thats failing the 1st core or not i know ideally i need to keep the temp 50c or lower. also according to reviews my cpu should overclock to 3.2ghz by simple changes to the multiplyer as i have been doing but i cant exceed 3.0ghz as i get the bluescreen of death if i do. i think i need more or equal memmory to clock speed (i.e if i have 3.0ghz cpu i need at least 3gb memmory - 4ghz cpu would be 4gb min memmory etc am i right in thinking this?) any and all help would be grately appreciated thanks
