since i swapped to o2 i've had problems with my gaming connection, getting disconnects and poor pings (compared to when i was with pipex).

im on o2's home package (using bt's exchange hardware not o2's :( )and after speaking to o2 to try and get my line speed reduced, currently running at 2mb compared to 1.4 ish with pipex, i've been advised that i need to set up port forwarding for the games as this MAY help.

never dealt with port forwarding before so looking for some help and advice.

cheers......

Browse into the router and paste the line stats.
Who told you port forwarding would improve pings? prot forwarding is rearely needed unless you are hosting games. NAT is designed to maintain outgoing connections pretty much invisibly.
Also what games do you play?

o2 tech service said it might help with the ping, due to them not being able to do anything with the bt equipment.

battlefield series, call of duty......

Probably worth enabling Plug and Play as those games should be able to open the ports up themselves.

been browsing about and spotted a few dns issues with o2 , so following on from other threads around tinkered with the dns entries and the pings seemed to have calmed down a fair bit.
