Vista on it, which i wish to keep as is, no re-formatting etc and i have just found an old 80G IDE with XP and load of crap on it which i would like to use.

Obviously i'd be wiping the old 80 Gigger.

Any problems with running these drives alongside each other?

Any comments?

Advice?

Cheers.

:)

No. Worst that'll happen is the BIOS might try and confuse you by changing the boot order and booting the IDE drive. Give it a stern talking to, flip the boot order back if necessary and all should be well ;)

SO basically stew, i plug in the IDE, re-format it, and i'm good to go? i'll be able to transfer some files from my SATA to my IDE?

That's pretty much it. If you've got an IDE DVD drive and only one IDE port then make sure you've got one device as master and one as slave. If you have 2 ports then use 2 cables and have both as master on its own cable.

Go into Disk Management (right click on My Computer and pick Manage) and see what that has to say about it?

If it's not in there check it's showing in Device Manager, then check if it's showing in the BIOS.
