Hey all,

The components below are the components im going to be using in my new PC build that I'll be building next week.

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+

Mobo - Asus M2N-E Socket AM2

RAM - OCZ 2x1GB PC 5300 Dual Channel GX XTC

GFX Card - XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 512Mb PCI-E

PSU - 580W Hiper Type-R Blue

HD - 300GB Maxtor D/Max +10 SATA [16MB]

Optical Drive - NEC ND-4570 DVD-RW/RAM

Case - Aspire X-Cruiser Blue

OS - Windows XP Pro (x64 Edition)

---

I've already purchased the case, PSU and HD.
What I'd like to know is if I purchase all these items, will they all work in sync with each other and come with the correct cables that I need etc.

PLUS, will the CPU come with a Heatsink? AND I heard you should use thermal paste when putting the heatsink on? Will that come with it?

Thanks,

Marky

nice correction there.

I guess they'd all go

edit: I would invest in 2 hdd's though. One 80 gig and one 200 gig seems like the better way to go.

On another note, personally, id go for the Conroe route myself. Also im not sure if im alone on this, but id try to get a 7900 GT or GTX or X1800XT / X1900XT instead of that 7800 GTX. And also invest in more than one HD..

Plus just a reminder guys I've already purchased the case, PSU and HD - unfortunatly no going back on these babies. But It's just a start, after i'll be able to upgrade it further possibly with a second HD

Whats your budget, not including having the PSU, Case HD (so take tht from budget) i'd say the guys from OcUK can come up with a spec that will be more suited for you.

What monitor you going for?

If you can spair the cash you really should think about getting a spair drive for your OS. Makes things a little easier in the long run I find.

edit:

Just looked at your OS. You really should leave x64 well alone. It definitley won't make things any easier for you. As an OS it's still maturing. Better to just wait for vista.

I got myself the neccesities such as Mouse, keyboard, monitor etc.
Im just building the PC - for now ;)

I've calculated at having a budget of around £780 left to spend. I play games a lot and use the internet in web design and coding etc.

EDIT: I do also have to buy XP Pro 64 Version - thats all in the budget above

conroe, thats all i can say. if u have £780 to spend u can build urself a very nice machine!

CPU - Intel core 2 duo E6300
MB - Gigabyte DS3
RAM - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX
GFX - ati x1900xt
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB
Optical - NEC DVD+-R/RW 16x Dual Layer Beige

something like that just diff mobo so u can crossfire

For now id say get an X1800XT, save money and when DX10 comes out with the decent cards, get that. Upto you. Because you can save a bit of money now. To get one of the DX10 cards..and have the Option of having a C2D E6600.

Not a bad spec, but you'd rather want to have a Crossfire motherboard for future, and a conroe processor.

But thats my own preference.
