Help needed OC'ing Badaxe please

Hi,

I have the retail badaxe 304 & need some help with this. I have the E6600 & so I needed to perform the mod to unlock the options in the bios. I have also turned the memory speed right down to eliminate that as a problem & I have the latest bios.

I have Chipset voltage on full, ram on 2.1v & the CPU on 1.5v.

If I set the fsb speed to 1333MHz I get a no post :(

If I overclock using the percentage scale I can get upto about 3.1 GHz & at that point the board will not raise the bus speed any further. (even if I have the percentage scale turned up to 50%!) It accepts the changes in the bios & refuses to implement them. At 50% the clock speed should be around 3.6GHz.

Any ideas folks? Gibbo didn't seem to have any problems with his. :o

FSB 1066!!!

Do not set any vcroe yet just clock till it dies then add some!

What Bios do you have? Are you sure it's the latest

Don't use the auto clock do it your self!

What ram you got and what speed you runbinng it at

Pc 6400 is DDR 533 not DDR 667 your pushing too much into the ram then!

I run mine at DDR533 1:1 with 500FSB there and it goes some!

My G.skill ram isn't the problem as its on the lowest divider for now, until I get this sorted out. I have been overclocking with the "percentage burn in" option in the bios & have left the 1066 (266) strap on for now. The percentage burn in option will take me upto 3.1 GHz & then if I keep turning up the percentage in bios I still ends up at 3.1GHz in windows.

It seems that rather than just die when the OC is too high, the board just ignores the setting in the bios. :(
 
Your got the bios issue so what biops have you got!

What is your ram exactly?

It hasn;t spat any out but the only known ram to work 100% due to being made my ram people is OCZ and Corsair!! Gskil is failing on many bords which is really funny....,sorry

Don;t do a burn in!

Get it all updated and at stock!

Set all the silly bios adjusments then oc away!

3 days to get mine fully set form trial and error of what does this do!
 
I'm pretty sure the ram is ok as I have run it well above DDR 800 speeds on this board with no problem & at the moment its well below stock speeds.

I have the 1334 bios at the moment is this the best one to use?

Thats what i got and did 4.6GHz on my E6700 ES!

No thinking of putting some hard mods on the bord and see if i can touch 5Ghz!

There are mods to unlock the bios fully!

The bios you have seams to be a big issue and most are not using it at all what so ever!

Only use this Bios if you have a 304 or modded you 3o2 and below to run Conroe!

Thanks, I'll give that bios a try and see if I get anywhere. Do you know where I can get it from? as on the Intel site I can only find the 1334 one that I'm using now.

I will try that tonight & hopefully get a better result. Surely my board can do more than a lousy 340MHz FSB & this E6600 ought to be able to do more than 3.1 GHz. Hopefully this bios will do the trick. :cool:

Are there any bios setting that make much of a difference? What does "enhance power curve" do?
 
There a tons mate, i'm working on guide as more 304 been sold than anyhting, it's the most stablest bord out there needing no mods!

I'm only modding as 500FSB is doing my head in as i want more!

If you got important doc on this system back em befor hand okay!
 
Only the ES & EE Conroes unlock the bios options though. I had to paint across the "OC Debug" bridge to even get the vcore option to appear. I'm just using a lousy old hard drive with windows installed for now. My raptors can wait until I've got this thing at 9 x 400 stable.

If you have any bios optimisation tips, I'd be glad to hear them. :)
 
EE doesn't!!!

Es does but a mod has been needed or Intel ES tester bios like what i run!

Will give you the list once done!

Just found a way cool mod for all the caps to be chnaged..tempting!

:confused: PC6400 is DDR800?
PC5300 is DDR667

Need to run it at DR533!!!

Trust DDR667 it dies hense why i got my ram uber cheap cos the guy running it ran it at DDR667 so he spent load son fancy ram as to get this to work!
 
Ok, I've tried this other bios & it doesn't seem to make any difference. :( The board does not seem to go past about 340 MHz FSB. This makes this the worst conroe compatible board I've ever seen. It doesn't even have a clear cmos jumper for heavens sake. :mad: A failed OC is a nightmare to recover from.

Does anyone else have an idea what might be going wrong here before I send this back? :(
 
Dude it does have a CMOS!!!

You just aint reading the manual right or the bord!! The bord tells you what the BIOS jumnper does

Have you ever heared of deep CMOS clearing!!

Remove the battery!

Have you even flashed it right?

bad Axe rev 302 and that have been modded are the bets mobos for Conroe! Has no problems with any hardware unlike all the other bits of crap currently!

Go read your manual! All will be clear
 
No it doesn't have a CMOS clear, it has a maintainance mode, this is not the same thing. The cmos clear would have been on the missing three pins labeled OC debug.

Remove the battery? tell me about it, thats been out about 50 times in 3 nights trying to get this intel/foxconn thing to work.

Its certainly flashed properly, yet the IDCC will not go above 1387 fsb (347) no matter what. I might have to get an Asus one I think.
 
similar problem here, tis very strange indeed...
i have the latest bios revision 1334 and have modded the OC Debug jumpers so that i get the FSB settings...
set it to 1067fsb with a 37% burn in, boots into windows fine, different programs read the cpu at different speeds...
windows = 2.56ghz
CPU Z 133 = 2.193ghz
CPU Z 135 = 2.56ghz at first then drops to 2.193ghz...
3dMark06 = 2.561ghz

tis barmy, my machine will post with the fsb @ 1333 and a burn in of 20% but it will go no higher, it gives me a roughly 408...
 
I'll try if i'm feeling any better to sort you out with this guied but do look on XS there is a stick in Intel!

I'm curshing at 500FSB and flashed mine today and clkeared my Cmos easy enough!

Recovery mods is the reset!
