Right hope you guys can give me a bit of advice here! I need to upgrade my system to get better FPS in current (STALKER) and up and coming games.

My system spec is below in my sig, and i score 12218 on 3dmark05.

I have 3 options really:

1). Buy faster ram, in order to also overclock CPU closer to 4GHz. Not a vast improvement gaming wise IMO but its a start? (£100 for ram)

2). Buy a new graphics card, At least a 8600 Nvidia card, that will overpower my two 7600GT xxx in SLi. Any recommendations? (£180+? for card)

3). Wait it out for a few months for any Graphic card price drops? Nvidia got anything planned? Or ATI?

Bearing in mind i could sell my current ram and cards to add more to funds. Any recommendations welcome :)

I'd spend most of the money on a gfx card.

Your 3GHz Conroe and 2GB of ram is fine, it'd be a waste upgrading them and only having enough cash left to buy a 8600 gpu.

You'd be better off getting a 8800GTS 640 for about £220.

8800GTS 640 or 2900XT. Personal choice tbh. Ati might beat the GTS with improved drivers or it might not. Also depends on what games you play most. STALKER would probably prefer ATi as it's AA is shader based which is what the 2900XT AA is based upon.

but for now AA fails badly for 2900xt in STALKER :|
