I have a benq 120mhz 24 inc X2

Now is it worth me going 4k and if so what sort of monitors should I be looking @ ?

Also is it like going from a 60 mhz to a 120mhz as to me that was like day and night

Cheers

Mmm that BenQ monitor looks amazing. I wish it was available when I got my 4k monitor. Coming from someone with a 28" 4k monitor. I'd definitely look at a monitor that's over 30" and 32" sounds like a sweet spot where your monitor doesn't start feeling like you're sitting in front of a TV.

also the ports on the back of 4k monitors have they done away with dvi ports?

am looking @ this one at mo Asus PB287Q 28 inch Widescreen Ultra HD 4K LED Monitor

wanna sell ?:D:D

just to let you guys know i read a guild about 4K and for 32inch you need to be close under 3.5 foot away to see the diffrence in 4K and 1080p the further away you are the less your eye can tell the difference
i do think 28inch is to small for 4K if this monitor was 36-40 inch would be better
but im happy at 32inch for now
or you could get 2 28's ;)

I have the asus PB287q and I would have happily gone bigger. I made the move from a NEC 20" widescreen display to this and although its clearly a lot bigger I think a 32" might have been perfect for me..

I may go triple setup when I can afford it and also when that means the inclusion of suitable graphics horsepower!

I also sit 2feet approx from the screen and 125% scaling works for me. I was on 1:1 but I kept finding myself moving forward for certain reading situations. Also not everything scales like windows 8.1 at the moment. I'm using windows 10 preview at the moment which operates the same.

Hi Garfo,

I only have a single EVGA 780 superclocked/ 3770k @ 4.5 at the moment. Waiting to see what happens with the 390x or I may go titan x.

Some average benchmarks with single 780 sc (max settings)

I like my racing so start with
project cars - vsync locked fps @ 30fps (far from ideal)
assetto corsa - 50-60fps

battlefield 4 - 35fps
sr4 - 55fps
something old COD MW2 - 60fps
dying light - 30-40fps
crysis 3 - 30fps
bioshock infinite - 35-55fps
tomb raider - 45-60fps

So not optimal but it does alright considering I bump everything up and run at native.

IF you have similar gfx horsepower you can bring it down to 1440p which makes a world of difference I can then max out most of the above.

The display is actually very nice for a TN panel. The colour saturation is better than any TN I've used in the past. Brightness level is good obviously viewing angle is a little limited still but not a problem for me sitting in front of the screen.

The vertical viewing angle is more limited than left-right but the excellent stand allows you to get the best possible eye level to suit.

4k is nice but dont expect retina sitting relatively close. That said I wouldn't personally want less res on a 28" screen having now tried all flavours. If you like gaming its a nice screen very fast panel and although I still like a little AA you can for the most part play at 4k without AA and it looks pretty clean.

I would love to go triple with these monitors but the bezel is fairly thick. There is a popular channel on youtube where the guy has just bought a triple setup and 2 x titan x!
