Hi i have problem here are my specs:
Q6600 @3.0ghz
4 gigs ram
1 X 150 raptor 10000rpm [problem drive]
2X 500 gb seagate HD

I have a dual boot system with xp/vista xp on the raptor and vista is on a partion on one of the seagates.

The problem is i can boot into xp and safemode but after a short while the raptor makes a funny noise and blue screens with a crital process was terminated error even though i havnt dont anything.Ive tried doing a av scan and error checking of the drive + defragging +tried doing same in safemode but this all fails also.

Ive tried booting into vista but this fails aswell it says winload file is missing on the raptor. So i tried using the win cd recovery console to no luck.

Some cricital files are on that hardrive and i cant backup them up is there anything i can do to get them back ?

Is this a borked HD or something else ?

How would i fix this problem without getting a replacement raptor and what stepsdo i need to follow to get at least one of os system working today with minimal effort?

Thanks in advance

You might wanna check the HD for bad sectors or something. Or go into the event log and see what causes the crash.

I would double check the hardware for a start, connectors, cable and the sata port its attached to.

what order did yo uinstall things in vista first or last? Vista would have been advisable

I took your advice and checked all the sata connectors and they look ok.

It wont boot into xp or xp safemode now it just hangs so i cant check the event log.

Regarding the order i installed things:
I first installed xp onto the raptor 150gb then i installed vista on a partion that i made with partion magic on one of the seagates.

How would i go about doing this if the raptor drive is indeed toast ?
Install xp onto a new partion on a another HD and make it boot into a os selection menu like it did before

thanks again
