Help needed, PC Crashes...

Ok, so I'm having an intermitant problem where when I boot into a game for eg. BF3, Borderlands 2, Heaven benchmark or even PKR, my PC crashes, no blue screen just audio stuttering and the monitor is left with a black screen for the input.

So I've switched over the PSU, cleared the CMOS, removed all overclocks, tried 1 stick of RAM in each slot, reinstalled windows and the issue persists :(

I also tried my GPU in a friends PC, running BF3 no problem and even running GPU tool render stabilty test along with Heaven benchmark, so I think it's safe to assume that's ok.

The odd thing is when the game does boot I can play for hours without any heat problems or slow downs.

The only components left untested are the CPU, SSD and motherboard, the latter two being purchased in the last 3 months.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
