Help needed, PC won't boot

Hi guys, I need some help.

My PC wont boot, it turns on but powers itself off after 2 seconds, before the bios post.

The weird thing though is that the machine stays on longer if the processor isn't installed. It was driving me up the wall, so I thought I'd try it

Anyway, different processor and the same issue.

Do you think its the motherboard that is the issue?

Aye they are

Specs are:

AM2 5600
MSI M2N-SLI Deluxe
4GB RAM
HD6870

Its not a new build and it worked before

I've reset the CMOS and its still the same

Thanks for all the advice guys, I will do as you suggested, hopefully I will get it working again.
