I have a big problem. Today after i turned on my pc, i got into windows and after about half an hour my pc crashed. when it rebooted it would not go past the detecting harddrive bit (in fact it froze there). so i then turned the power off and tried again. Now all i get is a beep , beep. On the motherboard the diagnosic lights stay on with 3 lights (Meaning CPU not detected). Is CPU F*&$#@ or is there something else that i can do to get it to work. Thanks guys (or girls) for any reply that i may get.

Have a look in your motherboard manual for how to perform a CMOS reset. Probably a good place to start.

Edit: And does the CPU fan spin when you try to turn it on?

Mite help...mite not...

But leave it disconnected from the mains for a while (It probably has for a while now considering your error...)

Then just reseat the 2 main components...or even better, start with the bare components...ie motherboard, ram and the cpu...

For a start you could just try re-seating your Cpu as the manual states it as a cpu fault.

If the above dont work, post back and tell us exactly what you've done to try and rectify the problem.

And btw, what exactly where you doing before your computer decided to go caput...?

Good luck man.

Doubt its the CPU, it would'nt power up if it was dead.

Check the beep codes key in your Mobo manual or online if you still have access, that might give you a place to start.

eg- on my mobo two beeps means 'memory error'.

Good Luck

Tahts the standard :0

Two long beeps, with a about, say seconds inbetween each beep means a memory issue...and if you hear a siren, it means your cpu's apparently on fire :D

I've heard these beeps too amny times :|

All i was doing was listerning to music
I have disconected the harddrives, dvd rom. reset the cmos twice, now trying a hard reset. tried 1 stick at a time in 3 of the slots as the 4th is kind of blocked by the heatsink. and it always ends the same a continues long beep beep.
This i have just got for bios central site "Continuous beeping, each lasting about three seconds. The beeping does not stop. Seems to be CPU related"

Ace man :)

Glad you've sorted it, least you know what to do next time *if* it happens again, but hopefully it wont :P
