Help needed please.

I've just put together a rig for a bloke I work with using an Asrock Conroe 945 Mobo. His old board was an Asus Matx one using 2 x 1Gb sticks of generic ram rated at PC5300(667Mhz). The ram was quite happily working in Dual Channel mode in his old board but refuses to work on the new one. I can put either stick in slot 1 and the board will happily run in single channel mode but as soon as i put both in it refuses to post. I had it out on my desk running with no drives connected just to check it all worked and it would actually post with both sticks in running Dual Channel. Refused point blank though once everything was connected.

Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved. Although how this works is beyond me. I was still having no luck when I thought I'd try putting one stick in the yellow slot 1 and one in the orange slot 4 and seeing if it would run 2Gb in single channel mode. However when I booted up it reported it was running in dual channel. I thought the two sticks had to be in the same colour slot for dual channel. Anyway, panic over.
