i am fixing a pc for a family member, it's an older vista desktop, acer advent.
it was running fine when i picked it up from her house, got it home and installed another dimm of ram to make 3 gig, and then switched it on. powers up and cpu fan spins but no picture at all. i have removed all dimms and then powered on and no beeping noise which usually happens with no ram. installed original 2 dimms and still nothing.
has the mobo gone?
the dvd is making a screeching noise too.
i am stumped. if it make some beeps i'd know it's the ram or possible cpu.
