Hi everyone. I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I have a slightly different question to normal beacuse its replacing an x121e that was nicked.

What do I need it for?
I need a laptop for day to day use, web browsing, downloading content, the odd virtualmachine for linux testing, and so on.

Whats my budget?
I have £300 in Amazon vouchers to spend. I am happy to add to this, probably £150 more max, but would also consider spending about £200 to £250 on a laptop from another source, and use the amazon vouchers toward an ipad or something.

What form factor?
My last one was a thinkpad x121e, but it was nicked! I used to take it on the train with me hence the form factor, but this one neednt leave the house really, as I do plan on getting a tablet somewhere along the line for taking with me. Dont want larger than 15.6inch, but maybe 13 inch or 14 inch is the sweetspot here.

Whats my preference?
No idea. I've seen loads of deals, but processors and so on are confusing the life out of me I have to admit! If im buying outright, I want as cheap as possible, but with a decent processor (not netbook type).

Thanks evryone!

I like them too. This machine is replacing my Thinkpad x121e which was nabbed. So Lenovo seems like a good option for me.

Was a bit worried about the s400/405 as it has single channel RAM, and although it says its limited to 4GB apparently 8GB sticks do work.

Seems to tick the boxes anyway.
