Hello everyone, I'm here to seek advice.
Last week my SSD died. I was using my pc as normal then it suddenly BSOD and restarted. After that it started up and I was presented with a message of "no disk inserted, insert boot disk". My drive not recognise in bios or by the windows disk.

It was then RMAd to overclockers. This process was going to take a long time so I bought a new cheap HDD to tide me over.

Now tonight the exact same thing has happened with this new disk! What could be causing this? Please help :-(

Edit/. The drive had now suddenly appeared in the boot menu and I'm getting as far as "starting windows" but freezing at that. Something is seriously wrong. (sorry for dodgy typing, reduced to phone!)

Ok I have tried a few things. I swapped the Sata port it was in, as well as the cable with a new one. It is now in a Gray port instead of blue.
It then loaded into startup repair and fixed some "disk errors". It has now got into desktop. Could be a dodgy sata port?

Could be a dodgy port/controller, or could well be a dodgy cable. Time for a process of elimination!

That's what I was thinking. Although my RMA'd SSD which this happened to first was sent back to the manufacturer by ocuk. This implies they couldnt get it to work either.

So it's strange...

I agree. I've swapped cable and ports. If it happens again I know the sata controller is gone. Which would involve RMA'ing the board. Not fun.

Ok the pc displayed the "no disk detected insert boot disk" message again today. It's not on a different port with a different cable and HDD.

I guess the only thing left is that its a faulty mobo?
