HELP NEEDED WIRELESS ??

at my mams address at the moment.
she has TALKTALK internet.
my mates laptop WIFI pci card thing went dodgey so i bought a USB WIFI RECEIVER.
when i type the wep key all thats correct.
all it said was
acquiring network address ??

wtf!!
help needed please

Which router do TalkTalk use? Do you have a network cable to directly access the router?

Its the Huawei one.
and yeah direct access works but i want wireless to work.
Forgot to mention its just had a fresh install of windows xp.
it worked before on Vista.
thats all it said after i typed my wep key was acquiring network address CONSTANTLY..
