Hi all,

Im hoping that someone may be able to help me with a problem that I am having with a laptop. The laptop in question is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L1300. The problem is that it cuts out after about an hour when the mains charger is plugged in (almost like the unit is overheating). I have tried running the laptop without the battery, and the problem still happens. The charger is capable of charging the battery, and is the correct voltage and amps for the laptop. The funny thing is that the laptop will run on the battery just fine, until the battery runs out of charge in fact. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem may be or relevant links to similar issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ross

Have you tried blowing through the air vents on the back and side of the laptop, might be a load of trapped dust which may be causing it to overheat and shutdown.

As above post, make sure the vents are clear,if on your lap try to keep the vents clear of your leg.possibly the cpu fan is not working?can you feel any air being extracted?

All the vents were clear, I even took the HSF fan off the cpu to check it wasnt blocked. I also tried blowing 2 x 12" Desk fans at it but to no avail. Have contacted Fujitsu and they suggested a BIOS Flash, which seems to have worked so far (dont know why I didnt think of it, but seems strange that it should fix that type of a problem). Cheers for the input.
