Setting up system with components that are knwon to work in other systems.

Motherboard is Tforce 6100-939 A01 Ver:1.0

When you power it on the CPU fan spins and the power LED lights. That is it. The four red LEDs on the board light up like

OFF OFF ON ON

I have tried different CPU, both Opterons - could that be the problem?
Two different types of RAM, bh-5 and OCZ 4200 EL, both one stick and both sticks in al slots.
Tried with PCI-E graphics card and on board graphics.
With hard drive and CD-rom disconnecfed - both IDE.
Havent tried a different PSU - this is a new FSP ZEN silent 300W - has the 24 pin power connector. More than enough for this computer. I have a older 20pin PSU I could try if you think this may be problem.
I had USB and front pane connectors plugged in, those have been removed.

Any ideas?

Bios might not support Opterons?

Thanks

I have the tforce 6100 in both socket 939 and 754 versions. Looks like you may have to borrow a friends a64 to flash the bios to the latest bios. Just checked in tforce manual that d1 off and d2 off indicate a cpu/chipset error. d3 is dimm power and d4 is power led, so looks like the bios isn't recognising the cpu.

just trying to find a website that has all the latest tweaked bios for this mobo.
Will post it when I find it. By the way this is a very stable motherboard with plenty of tweaking options.

The stock bios supported my Opteron 146 straight out of the box. I upgraded to the modded Rebels' Haven one though and it gets rid of the annoying splash screen.

Reseat the CPU heatsink?
I'm kinda out of ideas, maybe it's DOA and you need to RMA it... hopefully not!

Bit of topic, P4radox, have you flashed to the new 127bios from rebel heaven? I have an old winnie 3000 that would never boot above 250htt before no matter what multi I used, now it is booting 275x7 multi at stock volts  Going to keep on playing with this new bios.

Goreblast, can you give us the specs on your power supply? Need to know what those 12v rails are?

ooh thanks for the heads up. I'm flashing now:).

Lol Goreblast, I've just been browsing my bookmarked Tforce threads on loads of forums all over the internet and you've posted in all of them!!! :D

Well great minds and all that!

The PSU is FSP Sparkle FSP300-60GNF Zen Noiseless 300W ATX2.0 PSU (CA-007-SK). Its a HTPC in the lounge, so gotta be quiet.

Tried both an Opteron 144 and Opteron 165.

Will try out of the case.
I have a 3500+ here, but will have to remove it from wifes system and put a different CPU (opteron) in it. Gotta check Abit AV8 bios......

Get that 3500 installed and check it boots the motherboard. If it does, then flash bios to the 127 bios from rebel haven. If it doesn't boot the mobo then RMA the board back to the supplier and get a replacement. The new 127 bios has really invigorated my tforce and 3000 winnie combo, going to try and hit 300htt with the beast soon.

what voltage setting are you using? I set 1.65vcore to get 1.51v actual to the cpu, the mobo definately undervolts so your 'stock' voltage might be undervolted.

Yeah I've messed about and needs serious voltage to go anywhere. A real voltage of 1.55V will get it to 2.58GHz, but 2.6 requires 1.6V, which is far too much for my liking - especially in this little Antec Aria Case. It's weird because the previous owner could get 2.6 on 1.45V stable on a DFI... :(

Is that Opty a Cabbage stepping by any chance?
Still love my skt 754 venice that has been known to bench at 2.9ghz in my old dfi mobo. Got to love these Tforce mobos though, cheap prices and plenty of tweaking fun with amazing stability as well.
