I am trying to remove the brake light switch from the top of the brake pedal. It looks to have a threaded rod with large grooves cut along it. I found this page http://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...12-need-help-removing-brake-light-switch.html which seems to be about a similar fitting switch. There he says that he managed to remove it by just turning it 1/4 turn and it slides out. On mine I haven't managed to get it to turn at all.
It is in a really awkward place with very little room to fit my hand in. I obviously don't want to break it if I need some different approach so I haven't really forced it yet. I my be able to get pliers in there but I am wondering if I need to 'release' it somehow.
It fits into a plastic 'nut' which looks to have moldings that may lock into the grooves but with the space around the nut I can't see any way of getting a tool in there to release them.
Has anyone dealt with a similar switch or have any ideas?
thanks
