SO my new components came today and I've put the all the hardware together, just need help with the cabling bit.

So far I've connected the CPU fan
Done the GPU and connected that to the power supply
Done the ATX power connector pin

There's still a lot of loose cables and it's very confusing (first time build on my own).I've also plugged in both Hard drives but not sure how to select the primary and slave bits. They're both plugged in the same way

What else need going in? I know this is probably an age old question that everyone asks, but is there any possibility of mere severly damaging the PC if I wire it up wrong?

thanks guys

Edit:

Motherboard = Asus PN5-E SLI nForce 650

Best way is to look through your motherboard manual, there is no need to rush the built at all. Might help abit if you give the specs of the build so we can make suggestions, e.g. sata/ide hard drive etc
Also with the wiring, some things, when wired incorrectly, will do much more damage than others, but best bet is to look through the motherboard manual. The asus ones I've found to be some of the best to follow

Believe me, I studied that manual. They just asume that everyone knows all the jargon and terminology.

System

Asus PN5 - E SLI nFORCE 650
E6600
8800GTS
600W Seasonice PSU
2 SATA hard drives

Generally is quite difficult to knacker things.. provided that you don't force things to fit.

The molex cables only fit one way - if they don't then you are holding one upside down!

Your HDDs are SATA and therefore Master and Slave does not matter.

Update:

Ok, started it up (my hands were litteraly shaking!!) and everything seems fine.
Just installing Windows quickly and will then go over every setting with a magnifying glass. Can see any obvious hardware faults so far. Ram is showing as 2gig, both HD's are showing up, CPU is showing up, fans are working, Optical drives are working. I'm still not 100% convinced everything is ok though. (the sceptic in me). Just feels like I'm missing something.

Well, going by the spec you posted above, tehre isnt much to connect in terms of power cables from the PSU (Power supply)

Long as your motherboard has the 20/24 pin cable in, and the 4 pin cable in, then your board is set...

Like you said your Graphics card has power so hey...then naturally your hard drives need power so thats another two 4-pin molex / sata power cables...Then i rpesume you have a cd-rom of some description so thats another power connector...And if you havea floppy thatll have one also...

As said above, SATA harddrives dont really have a master and slave connection...Its all detected via the motherboard, so long as you have the drive that you want windows on plugged into port '0' or in some cases '1' is the lowest sata number (It can change on boards and backplanes and stuff) then your ok. That will basically be the 'master' drive there.

Anything just give us a shout, oh and yeah i presume you've plugged your cpu fan in as well, otherwise you would have walked into problems by now ;)

Don't know if you have one or not but floppy drives are what tend to trip me up - many a time I have plugged the ribbon cable in the wrong way round

If only you posted earlier you could've saved me a lot of worrying :D .
What you mentioned is exactly what I ended up doing after a lot of struggling.
Good thing is, the next PC I build would go much easier.

PS.

Damn, this E6600 is QUICK!

Hehe, sorry matey only just logged on :)

Glad you got there in the end though. Yep, the E6600 should prove to be a good investment ;) I take it thats not clocked then? They're even quicker once they're clocked a bit!

Nah, but I say where to connect it on the mobo. WOuld've been an absolute headache since I've got loads of cables to deal with already.
