Hi everyone,

I am currently in the middle of writing my thesis and am having a mental block on how to solve a (probably) really easy equation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

14.9 = 0.024d + 0.11(d-177.3)

I need to find out d.

just multiply out the bracket then it's obvious.

so you get:

14.9 = 0.024d + 0.11d + (0.11*177.3)

Method's right but you missed a minus sign. Should be:

14.9 = 0.024d + 0.11d - (0.11*177.3)

14.9 + 19.503 = 0.024d + 0.11d
34.403 = 0.134d
34.403/0.134 = d

256.738 = d hence d = 256.74 (2 decimal places)
