i have an old PD 805 and am running it on the p5b deluxe mobo.

in the past i couldnt get it clocked at all but messed around with some settings and got it going @ 190 fsb.

problem is, its not stable. the CPU is fine but memtest fails. the RAM is pc4300 and i left the RAM on auto. i changed it to 4300 but the pc wouldnt boot after that and had to reset the bios.

does this mobo have a problem with dividers? if so, any way around it?

Set Ram to 1:1 or 5:4 to the cpu ( select ddr freq 400/333 in bios), probab poor clocking ram...

Also increase vcore a bit till about 1.45 (or higher)then it should do a lot more...

you can't select down lower multipliers on the p5b dlx, the short answer is the ram you are running is too poor, upgrade to a 1gb set of pc6400 and this will offer you excellent headroom! the pc5300 stuff i have with my dlx allows me to get to 400mhz fairly comfortably! also what bios revision are you using?

latest bios mate.

am running the cpu @ 1.35v at the mo and thats ok,it passes prime for 12 hours without a hitch. its the RAM thats the prob

will try to get the RAM on looser timings but failing that, will have to wait till i can swap this RAM with my geil 6400 hz ram

kk fella well basically you are going to be limited by that ram as the max i think you'l get is 200-210mhz because it's low speed, so personally i'd say just get some better ram pop them in then you should be good for 400-450! everyone is saying the p5b is a average clocking board mine's been excellent i can't really complain!

yolu're right, deffo the RAM

took out that RAM and popped in some crucial 256meg ram i had lying around and it booted straight off the bat @ 200fsb. some RAM errors there tho.

will probably put my g.skill ram in there and see how it fares :)

damn numbers in ddr2 threw me off :o

ta for the help lads, will probably sell the RAM again on MM
