help needed with problem diagnosis

First off, the spec:

Inte5l i7 4770k with stock cooler
Gigabyte windforce nvidea 670
16gb generic ram @ 1333
Wd green 500gb Hdd
750 watt power supply
Cit gaming case with 4 or fans
Windowa 7 64bit

The problem:

I seem to be getting q stutter (multiple very short freezes which affects the video and audio). This typically occurs during high load gaming but also shows itself using youtube and video playback. It is fixed with a reset. Initially I thought it might be heat so I ramped up the pwm slope on the cpu to max and this now tops out at 60ºc (no contoller for case fans, and can't seem to find the way to do this for gpu which hits about 60-65). My second thought is the power supply, whilst it has enough juice, I had to get creative with the connections to make it power everything. Event log shows no criticals, jus a few minor warnings related to my crap wifi.

I am fresh out of ideas, any insights?

You can adjust your 670 fan speeds using MSI AB.

Latest drivers are installed and ond ones removed.
Psu is a bog standard CIT.
I will try that program when I get home tonight.

You might want to consider getting a decent branded Psu.

possibly questionable quality PSU? my intial thought was also excess heat until i read your 2nd line! did you definitely get the latest Audio drivers?

Audio drivers are also up to date
I ran out of money for the build by the time I got to the psu (its always the last component we consider, isn't it!). Will look into a new one if the gpu fan speed fix doesnt work.

tried complete reformat and wipe? extreme i know, but it's always an option, thereby eliminating software problems from the list of what's possible, i've fixed more than one pc issue over the years by doing this! you could also start being more desperate, alternating out different RAM Sticks, checking your thermal paste, rewiring everything just because, etc (have also fixed problems by doing the latter believe it or not)

If only I had the money for new ram sticks. The pc is only about 3 months old so a format is a tad extreme (it has being doing this since I built it). I will try with the connections rhough. At work til quite late today so it may be a job for tonight.

Have just noticed something that might be related, My wifi (internal card) has limited connection every time this happens. I have always had problems with the signal due to my landlords reliance on apple for EVERYTHING, including the damn wifi.

Any thoughts?

Also, why does everyone have photos from gangster movies as avatars?

Lends some credence to a possible PSU issue. PSU is naff, giving off EMI and also affecting the WiFi card/signal?

Thanks for the help everyone. Faulty network card was the issue, currently running an old usb belkin adapter with no problems. Might just stick with that for the time being unless overclockers has a nice one I can afford!

Keep the belkin adaptor and swap out that bloody awful machine killing PSU that you have at the very 1st opportunity.

If you don't eventually it WILL end with smoke, a bang or some sparks and the worst bit is that cheap PSU's generally don't like to die alone and could take some other components into the next world them.

I post as someone that once owned a CiT PSU and regretted it.
