Hi all,
New to the forum but come with a question.

I purchased a set of DT 990 Pro headset and a sound blaster X G6 USB sound card amp. Primarily for gaming.
I downloaded the Soundblaster Command Software and set up ready to play.
A strange thing happened which i cannot pinpoint the cause or control for. Game sound will drop when there is a change of sound. For example, i'm in a game of Escape from tarkov, I hear a gunshot in the distance and ALL the ambient sound drops, this then gradually creeps back up over the next 5 or so seconds. This also is triggered by voice on discord for example.
This is not ideal. I would like a constant sound volume.
I think ive tried all the options on the command software but nothing seems to make it better or worse.

I put the headphones direct into the pc soundcard and it didnt give me the problem but as expected sound was nowhere close to what you get through the G6. This highlights that it is the G6 or the command software.

Am i missing something obvious?
Thanks

the most obvious of the controls is smart volume.

Smart Vol: Activate Smart Vol to normalize volume levels (Normal), pump up the volume (Loud), or reduce loud burst of sounds for those late night sessions (Night). Move the slider to adjust the intensity accordingly.
the volume changes when i select each one but the reaction to the sound and the decrease is overall sound is not affected.
I do note however, voice over discord stays the same volume, its only the in game sound that reduces then climbs back

so i removed the Soundblaster command software and the problem is still there.
Can it be a windows configuration of the hardware?

There is a Windows setting in the advanced sound page under communications which will mute/reduce volume on other sounds when voice communications are in use.

that looked like it could be it but unfortunately did not solve the problem. I set this to 'do nothing' when it recognised communications but the problem is still there.
