I have an Nvidia GeForce 7300 card and regularly use the S-video Out going into my TV. Everything works fine but I have some aspect ratio issues.

My monitor is widescreen (16:10) and my TV is regular 4:3 but all the video from the TV-out is fullscreen - fine if the movie file is 4:3, but if it's widescreen then the picture is all squashed up on the TV, when it should have black bars on the top and bottom. I can get around this by using the widescreen simulation option on the TV, but this of course does not work if the movie is 2.35:1.

Basically is there anyway I can make the TV-out NOT widescreen so that it displays the correct letterboxing?

I'm sorry to bring up an old post, but i did a search and i'm having the exact same problem with my 7300GT on Forceware v94.24. So rather than re-type the above, i thought i'd ask:

Has nVidia fixed the aspect ratio TV-out issue in the half-year thats elapsed?
Do the 100 driver series fix this? I read it was working in the 8x series but they borked it in the 9x drivers

Thanks

The last "new" drivers that I tried had not fixed the problem. I was advised to use an old set of drivers: 80-something (can't remember off the top of my head), and it works adequately now!

Oh the OP, excellent

I will indeed try some old 80s i found but im worried they wont detect my 7300GT. Cannot believe nVidia are letting this bug slide. ATi have a plethora of controls for TV-out...

Anyway, cheers matey :)
