Hi guys,

i have just brought a second hand acer aspire 5935G and cant get some of the stuff to work

1) webcam
2) bluray player

normally i would just do a complete restore the guy that i brought it off said there was no disks and the laptop has a backup drive for that but he cant remember how to do it.

after a little work on the internet i found that the restore is by hitting alt+f10 at the acer boot screen

heres the second problem this laptop is running somthing called driversignal plus or something like that and preforms a short macro at the boot up disabling something or other (methinks the previous owner has got some naughty software at work here) the real probl;em is it prevents me from doing anything at start up even go into the bios. i know the laptops not stolen as he has origional reciepts but if anyone could help id really appreciate it

ive now managed to sort out the readydriverplus issue it wasnt easy but i got there, all i need to know now is should there have been some disks with this or can i just restore through the alt+F10 method?

ok so just a little confused now. as above i got the program thats stopping me do anything off (anyone know what it is/does) but since ive only restored pc's im a little nervous if i press F8 on the boot screen i can go to a system restore but this seems to be windows based and not sure if i'll loose vital drivers and if i press F12 i can get to a boot screen that gives me the option to select a primary boot drive (should i do this and select the partitioned restore drive?) i might just give it over to a professional but that will annoy me a little as there normally expensive and ive repaired so many pc's why do laptops have to be so different

Correct.

There is however a recovery partition installed on the hard drive from the factory which contains all the files you need to restore your machine to factory defaults. You should be able to access this by pressing Alt + F10 during the bootup sequence. During POST and before it gets to trying to boot Windows.

On this, might be easier/better to contact the seller. Could be an easy fix to get it off. :)
