help, i need help, i need to find out what my network controller driver is for my mates IBM thinkpad r50e laptop.

Specs:
1.4 celerin M cpu
248mb ram
win xp home edition
service pack 2

I needed to reformat the computer for him as he wanted it doing, but now i can not connect to the internet as my earthnet controller driver cannot be found (atleast i think this is the problem), ive looked and looked and still cant find it, i have no idea what the driver model number etc is called, im guessing if I find that out i will be able to find a download for it somewhere?? and it will allow me to connect to the internet??

the folowing drivers cannot be found in device manager (yellow question mark):

Ethernet Controller
Multimedia audio controller
Network controller
PCI Modem
Unknown device
Video controller Video controller (VGA conpatible)

But my freind is on wireless, so i dont no where to start really as i have had no experience in that before, he has just told me the yellow light on the laptop that was the wirless light doesnt flash on anymore..
Any ideas??

Thnks ...

Edit, it has actually installed fine now, now it just says my internet is limited or no conectivity. Then i try repair my onnection, and an error comes up saying it cannot renew my ip address??

I then tried ipconfig/renew in command prompt and i get this error

An error occured while renewing interface Local Area Connection 2: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request timed out.

and from here on i am totally clueless....
