Hey guys,

A friend recently bought some upgrades to his desktop (B450-F Mobo, Ryzen 3600x CPU & 2 x 8GB DDR4).

He's not overly technical but attempted to put everything together following YouTube etc. but told me he did have the board resting on the carpet for a few mins :confused::confused:.

I had hope things would be okay, but after powering on, he's getting no display and a few beep fault codes. It's 1 long beep, followed by three short beeps (which the mobo manual suggests is "No VGA Detected"). This occurs with and without the GFX card installed. We tried all of the obvious things (resetting RAM, changing channels, trying just one stick, removing GFX card etc.) but still get the same fault code. When powering on, the monitor light flickers green as if it's detected something for a moment, and then goes back to standby without displaying anything.

Is there anything else we could try? Is there anything else that could cause this?

Any help / advice would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Not sure, but would the motherboard need a bios update to support Ryzen 3000?
It would (unless it's has already been updated) as the ryzen 5 3600x requires BIOS version 2301 (if this is the asus ROG Strix B450-F motherboard) minimum, and there is no option to flash a new BIOS without a CPU installed so a compatible CPU will be required to be able to flash a BIOS version that does support 3xxx series ryzen CPUs.
