Help ! New build no display

Hi guys just built another machine using a msi p67a-gd65 mobo and i5 (know this works) and put an r9 280 xfx card in. Using the dvi both dvis i have no display what so ever. All powering up and gpu fans spinning but no video out what so ever power cables all in etc.

Never used ati cards before so really lost any help please ?

Both power cables plugged into the R9 280?

8pin ATX plugged into the board?

Just tried the card in my machine and it works fine ... Plz dont say that this card is not compatible with this mobo

BIOS update then.

But you will need a working card in that board to do this.

Just put a 480 in and it works fine....... And then put the 280 into mine that worka fine its a combo of that 280 and that mobo... U think maybe bios ? I have not even got windows installed yet

So best bet to install windows first with the 480 then update bios ?

I assume that a r9 280 should work with this mobo

Do the bios update and post back.

I have never done a BIOS update on that board, you will need to see if you need to do it in a windows application or via USB stick+DOS.

Just googled updating this mobo bios and the first half a dozen results are all people on here having problems

installing windows first then going to update the bios... Im scared....

Its on version 1.80 now going to 4.30 watching the progress bar not going to lie ******** myself right now. Hate touching bios stuff

is it an Ivybridge CPU, Bios 4.1 and beyond are Ivybridge only

Ok somthing has gone pete tong it now says missing operating system, it done the update but i think its trying to still boot from the usb but it said never take the usb stick out or power off

The BIOS boot option will just be wrong.

NO.

BIOS 4.1 onwards adds support for Ivybridge.

It doesn't suddenly remove support for Sandybridge.

Enter bios and select the OS/Boot drive, a bios update will reset all settings.
