Just finished setting up a new build which i picked up today.
Here are the specs:

CIT 1001 Midi-ATX gaming case
Intel core 2 quad Q9550 LGA775 Yorkfield 2.83ghz 12mb chache
OCZ stealthxstream 500w silent PSU
Western digital 500gb sata-II 32mb cache
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 Intel p35 (775) pci express
Pioneer DVR-216DBK 20x dvd+-rw SATA
Kingston HyperX 4b DDR2 8500C5 1066mhz
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 XXX 1024MB GDDR5 Pci Express

Problem...
Tried to start it, bios loads, then vista disc beginms to 'load windows files'.
After about of being on, the computer just shuts down, no warning nothing.

It's like as if its overheating...
The graphics card seems to be getting hot, could that be the problem? If a graphics card gets too hot does the computer shut down?

Please help me fix this problem :(
Thanks

basically, the cpu didnt come with thermal paste. but im sure there was a layer on the heatsink where it comes in contact with the cpu.

Also, i have the case's cpu temp monitors in between the cpu and heatsink...could that be it?

I only have 4 motherboard screws /spacers in because the new motherboard i got had NO screws or fitting with it what so ever :|, so i had to make deal with the stuff left from my old build :(

Thanks guys!
Took off the cooler, took out the temp monitors, wiped both cpu and heatsink clean, then added what was left of my old thermal paste to the cpu (which wasnt that much tbh, just a blob in the middle, is that enough?). Seems to be working now though, just installing vista!

Also, i have a 500w psu and it only had one pci express wire, so i had to use one of the converter things because the graphics card takes 2 6pin pci express slots, will this be okay?

AND, with this case, does anyone know where i can safely put the 3 temperature things? the temp shows on the front, and same with the fan speeds. There are 3 plugs for fan speeds to show up on the front of the case but i dont know where they go either! there werent even any instructions!!!
Cheers

Wow haha guess i wont be having problems then.
It's just...I'm using one of those 2 4 pin to one 6pins pciE connector things...which was actually supplied with the card. Yet...In the quickstart it says, 'DO NOT USE CONNECTORS LIKE THESE' ladedadeda...but they gave them to me! 2 of them! haha

Hmmm, that wouldn't be too bad, but....
atm theyre loose in my case and im getting the following reading...'--'. Any ideas? Has anyone used this case? lol

And how about the fan speed plugs, where do i put those? :S:S
Thanks

Okay I'll try that, but does anyone know where theyre currently not giving a reading? :S

Also, any ideas on the fan plugs? There are 3 and they all say 'Fan2'. Theyre supposed to take an RPM reading of the fans but i dunno where to plug them?
