Thanks for helping me build my last three computers! I'm back with some questions before I commit to buying. Thank you in advance :)

Please can you help me answer some questions.

Questions:

1. Will the stock cooler be fine with the Ryzen 3 3600x?

2. I've got it in my head that Ram will be best if it's 3600mhz. Am I best going for a MOBO that can take ram up to 3600. Or am I best off going for a cheaper 3200 mobo and something like this with CAS 14 timings and 3200?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html

3. Will this MOBO be fine with the new Ryzen 3 and the Bios won't need to be upgraded?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-b450-tomahawk-max-socket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-33t-ms.html

4. Which GPU would be best?

or

I take it that there is little difference and no point paying for the most expensive 5700xt?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...ess-graphics-card-black-friday-gx-392-sp.html

5. Will this power supply be OK for a 3600x, 5700xt, SSD, HD standard build?

Corsair CP-9020133-UK TX550M 550 W 80+ Gold Power Supply Unit

6. Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe Would be a perfectly fine choice of storage?

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!! Is there anything else i need to look out for?

If you mean the CPU that is due to be released later this year then Yes the Bios will need to be updated MSI will not release a Bios update for those CPUs until close to or shortly after they go on Sale.

Gigabyte for RMA Reasons

Questions:

1. Will the stock cooler be fine with the Ryzen 3 3600x?

It's subjective. I've seen posts by others expressing the need to change the cooler. The 3600X does come with a slightly better cooler than the 3600. Closest point of reference I have is a 3700X and I was glad to have got a better cooler to keep the noise down when Ryzen ramps up and down. You could just try it and see it how it goes, build the basics outside of the case and put it through a few tests, so that you can order a better cooler if needed before sticking it all inside the case.

Well, the Tomahawk board you're eyeing can run 3600, so up to you. Could save a bit of money on this 3600 Patriot kit that the Tomahawk will run at XMP no issues:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £77.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Yes.

They are both great choices. Just get the cheapest, or the one you like the looks of better, or Gigabyte for UK-based support.

Correct.

Corsair CP-9020133-UK TX550M 550 W 80+ Gold Power Supply Unit

Yes. And 5700 XT benefits from undervolting. Remains at higher clock speeds without throttling as much as at default. After undervolting an MSI RX 5700 XT Gaming X to 1.0v with 2000MHz overclock (had to enter it as 2060MHz in AMD Software for some reason or 2000MHz would end up as 1950MHz effectively) it just stays at that speed when gaming/benching, with a max power draw of just 166W. The 3600X draws about 100W on peak load (Prime etc) so even a good 450W can comfortably run that setup (long as it has two PCIe cables). The question is whether there are better options as the TX550 is good but not as good as some Seasonic Golds, SuperFlower Leadex III Gold, Phanteks AMP Gold, Riotoro Enigma G2 Gold etc. But if it's the cheapest good offering, then it's a good choice.

6. Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe Would be a perfectly fine choice of storage?

Yep.

Just make sure the GPU you choose will fit the case and that the case has good options for CPU cooler (height) in case you want to add a better cooler. And also how many M.2 slots you'd like on the motherboard as the Tomahawk has just the one. And whether you'll be needing Addressable/Digital RGB header on the board as the Tomahawk doesn't have those, only plain RGB. Nor Wifi.

Thank you both so much for your help so far!

Danny75, you said the Tomahawk board can run 3600 but the notes say "DDR4-RAM up to 3.466 MHz via OC".

That's not 3600? (Daft question?!) Also, it says I need to OC it? Is it not hard to OC RAM? Guides look confusing.

I was attracted by the lower CAS 14 timings on the other ram. Is that not better?

I'm looking at this case so I trust it'll all fit?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/nzxt...-case-black-red-tempered-glass-ca-1a4-nx.html

I'll use the one M.2 slot for the Sabrent Rocket. I think i'll only need 1TB :) That'll be okay I guess?

I guess one main question would be wether it's worth paying more to get a proper mobo that does 3600 and Ram that does 3600?

1. Will the stock cooler be fine with the Ryzen 3 3600x?
If you care about noise rule is that you want to touch stock coolers only with blunt instrument.
And with temperature affecting level and longevity of boost clocks you would be better at getting good amount cheaper Ryzen 3600 and good separate cooler.
Every modern CPU falls lot short of advertised top clocks if it isn't properly cooled.

This would have very good performance for price.

The board actually has options above 3466 including 3600. Overclocked RAM is anything above 2133/2400 or thereabouts. So you're already overclocking at 3000 for example. Setting XMP will overclock it for you.

It is better quality RAM if you want to pay more and overclock with fine tuning instead of just setting XMP.

So far, yes. And at 165mm CPU cooler height clearance, there's plenty of very good options.

No. The Tomahawk will do it.

and Ram that does 3600?

Only if good value for money like the kit I linked.

Hi Guys, THANK YOU again. I definitely think I will be adding a cooler after your advice.

Is it easy to XMP? Do you just click on a profile option in the boot bios? I want things to be a simple as possible. I don't want to fine tune anything as I'll **** it up.

You can always overclock your RAM, since it's Samsung Bdie (at least according to the description) it should be easy enough.

But since it's only the £10 difference (currently) I would just go with 3600Mhz RAM for guaranteed speed.

I upgraded to a 3600X and B450 Tomahawk about a week ago. I’m delighted with the overall performance. No need for a bios update. The stock cooler is fine for temperature but not noise.

The cooler has had a downgrade since the previous generation with the removal of the vapour chamber and the addition of a faster noisier fan. Mine lasted a couple of days before I swapped it out.

You don’t have to spend much to fix the problem. I’m running a Cooler Master hyper 411R which cost about £25. Temperatures are improved over stock and it’s essentially silent.
