Hi All,

My old computer just stopped working the other day, which was a good excuse to get a brand new build. However, ive got serious problems as it wont start up properly - when i hit the on switch everything starts powering up, but it just turns off and auto resets.

Weird thing is, absolutely everything in the PC is brand new!

Ive disconnected the reset cable in case i had it wired incorrectly and have just plugged monitor straight into onboard graphics out.

Heres the build

Core i5 2500k
Corsair Vengeance 8gb
Corsair 650W TX v2
Crucial M4 SSD
MSI z68 - gd65

Any help would be massively appreciated!

unfortunately not - just powers up, all LED's come on, fans spin then resets. after couple of seconds the same happens again, but it just keeps going in a loop.

PSU is brand new and have disconnected the reset button - getting v worried!

thank you all - it was the memory - MB had the slots mis-numbered so i didnt have any in primary slot!!

have a good weekend (you sure as hell made mine better!)

aargh - after a couple of restarts its doing the same thing again!!

potential faulty memory? this is driving me slightly insane

thanks all - will have a look.

really strange that it started to work when i put the mem in the correct slots then decided to stop all of a sudden.

not sure it could be the CPU pins as i havent done anything with it since it was working. thinking its def a motherboard or memory problem!

unfortunately not - old PC is core 2 duo so memory doesnt fit, PSU doesnt have 8 pin mobo connector and cant try mobo switching.

probably going to have to RMA. should i return both the Mobo & Memory at the same time or one by one (wondering what etailers policy towards this sort of stuff is) btw. it was through a competitor, not overclockers unfortunately.

tried 1 stick at a time in every memory slot and still no joy. think i'm going to RMA the memory, CPU and mobo at the same time. that wise, or should it be done 1 by 1?
