OK, I have an aging AGP system and not enough cash to go PCI-e at the mo. My Asus ATI 9800Pro was artifact mad last week and took ownership of a x1950 Pro today - Operating system is Vista 32 Untimate.
Unistalled the most recent CAT drivers which unfortunately caused a blank screen so waited for no disk activity before bringing system down (remotely and controlled).
Rebooted (still orig card), booted OK, rand driver cleaner pro and shut system down.
Installed new card, booted to BIOS ok, Vista started to load and stopped at a blank screen (monitor shows no signal), no disk activity.
Booted to safe-mode OK, new device detected but did not install drivers. Checked device manager etc, nothing obvious. Booted again normally and still blank screen.
Can anyone help me please? Is this a repair job (boot to DVD) or something I'm doing wrong in Vista?
