Hi,

this is my first build and running already in big problems. Have received case and PSU, Crosair HX620 and HD. Still waiting for motherboard which hopefuly arrives on monday.
Connected HX620 to the HD and switched it on. Nothing happend. No fan of the PSU, no spinning of the HD.
Does this mean PSU is faulty or does the HX620 sense that no motherboard is connected and doesn't start.
Can't believe I received a faulty PSU.
The handbook doesn't mention anything.

I believe it does not sense the motherboard is not connected however you can 'trick' it, follow this guide

help: New Crosair HX620 PSU - thanks

Many thanks,

thought its damaged. Many thanks also to "premist" for the link to the "How To" use a PSU without mobo. I rather wait for the motherboard than doing the paperclip trick.

frank:)

No worries, I tried that trick with an old PSU and worked, wouldn't want to risk it with a new one!

Im using a PC PSU to power telescopes and mini fridges. Not even any sign of a PC . . . . I certainly wouldnt do it to an expensive one. Unless I suspected DOA by it not working when in a PC.
