We've started swapping xmas pressies before Uni breaks up and everyone heads home, and one of my friends got me the new warhammer game as I'd mentioned it once or twice. Joy!

The only problem is it doesnt work! I put the Dvd in, autorun it and it starts to install. There are only 3 or 4 little 'ok' boxes to tick (confirming where to install to etc) and then it starts to chug away. It fills in 2 boxes in the little bar that runs across the screen, then stops for a while and after about another minute it comes up with an error box and the installer closes.

The error says:

Feature Transfer Error
Component: Files
File: D:\Data2.cab
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

Anyone got any ideas what that means? I've googled 'cyclic redundancy' etc but nothing useful comes up, and there isnt even an error code or something to go on their website with. Does it just mean the Dvd's broken or something?

Little help pls!

That error could be that the disk is scratched, or it could mean you have some software (normally burning software), which the copy protection is getting confused by, and stops reading the disk. Have you checked the developers website for FAQs or forums?

Yes.. in short, they're rubbish. The forums are full of people moaning about them, and the FAQ section of their website doesnt load.

We think we've worked it out actually.. stupidly enough, I hadnt thought to check the disk itself yet. After having a look, it's lot a chunk of glue on the back! It came from GAME (Am i allowed to mention them here? Apologies if not) Anyway, they gave away a free 'pewter miniature' with it, which was glued to the inside of the dvd case... and unsurprisingly there's now glue on the dvd!

So we're trading it in with game again - its their glue, its their problem. I figure if I start scrubbing away at the dvd and break it then it'll be my fault, wheras at the moment they've sold a non-working product so I can just let them deal with it.

Sigh! But mystery solved, I guess.

I traded it in for another copy - apparently they'd had a few with the stupid glue on the disk *sigh*

Anyway, I like it :) I was a big fan of Shadow of the Horned Rat years ago, and its much the same but with better graphics. People have moaned about crashes but I havnt seen any so far.

How many chapters are there for each side? The first Empire one only took a couple of hours.
