Hi,

Just tried putting a brand new Sapphire HD7750 card in my machine and there seems to be no signal going to the monitor at all. The only possible clue is some extra clicking coming from somewhere on the motherboard before the BIOS beep. Usually there's a few clicks you only notice with the side off. With the new card this seems to go on a bit longer. Windows then starts even though I can't see it.

If I put the old card back in it works fine. The new card seems to be well seated and I've tried it in and out 3 times. The cable is the same for both cards - a dual link DVI cable. I also tried starting it connected to the TV using the HDMI port but again no signal whatsoever.

Both the new and old cards are passively cooled and have no extra power connector so I can't really see what I could be doing wrong.

According the Sapphire website the card requires a minimum 1Gb system RAM (I have 2) and 450w PSU, (I have a Corsair VX450). However I checked the AMD site and there it says the 7750 requires at least 4Gbs of RAM so I don't know if that could be the problem?? (It's an old board and won't take more than 2Gbs so that's not an option.)

I tried updating the BIOS because I could think of anything else. Now I'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

@Rusty0611 - No the 7750 doesn't require a power cable. It's a pretty low power card which is good for me because I can stay with my existing PSU.

@currob - No, basically nothing goes to the the screen at all from the moment the computer is switched on. Though I hear the POST beep and can tell Windows starts.

OK, conclusion, just in case anyone else has the same problem...

I checked the card in a friend's machine and it worked first try. It seems like despite apparent compatibility it's just not compatible with my Mobo. I got in touch with Sapphire and they reckoned that the mobo would need an updated BIOS and I should ask MSI about it - it has the latest update. Can't really see MSI doing that just for me and...

...anyway I'm now in the process of getting myself a new Ivybridge system and will bung the card in that when built up.

What is your old GPU?

Have you tried fully uninstalling graphics drivers (so you are using windows own drivers). Then reinstall with latest drivers from AMD.

If your old GPU is Nvidia, you will have to do the above.
