Help new pc crashing

Hi,

I've just got a Titan Xenomorph Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz @ 4.20GHz Nvidia Edition DDR3 System with a Palit GeForce GTX 460 768MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. Windows 7 OS.

Now every time I play call of duty modern warfare 2 it crashes, either to desk top or on a couple of ocassions full reboot (BSOD).

Running the game using the "optimal video settings" it crashes within 5 minutes. Turn everything off in video menu and have screen @ 1920x1080 and the time scale becomes random, but does still crash.

When it's rebooted I checked the tempretures for CPU in the BIOS and there were two figures one CPU and the other I can't remember, but they were 30 & 33, which is not hot.

I've also installed MSI Afterburner and mt GTX460 peak temp was 62 again not excessivley hot.

I've upgraded from and AMD socket A which always ran hot due to overclocking and would behave the same way, but the temperatures were way higher.

I thought the spec of my new pc would allow me to play call of duty modern warfare 2 with allthe video maxed out??

Is there a problem?? or am I asking to much!

Use latest nvidia drivers if that don't help check your bios setting

Does your computer freeze or bsod what error code are u getting if any
 
I'm upto date with the latest nvidia drivers.

PC doesn't freeze, game closes down Windows 7 message COD modern warfare 2 has encountered a problem etc.

What BIOS settings do I need to check?

And just to confirm my paranoia,this quote is from the reviews on OC's site:

"So far I've only tested COD MW which ran perfectly smooth at max res, with 4xAA, and all the graphics options maxed out. After an hour the GPU and CPU temps maxed at 74."

The only difference I can see is the above used a GTX470.
 
How much ram do you have & how many sticks ?
What PSU are you using ?
 
I heard somewhere I cannot remember where, that CoD had issues with some systems.
As far as im aware they have released a patch to the game to make it more stable and improve FPS.

What version of the game you using?

I downloaded COD via STEAM and as far as I know it's upto date, as soon as you log on to STEAM it updates your game library with any new patches.

It sure should as mine plays it fine 60+ fps and im using a E5300 OC 3.4 with a 460 756mb. (I will be upgrading :o)) Be that as it may though im too new to take advice from and all that but have you tried removing the overclock to test stability after installing the card?

Update!

Downloaded an ran Furmark in "Xtreme Burning Mode" and set the resolution to 1920x1080 ran for 90 minutes, GPU temperature maxed at 74c no crashes etc.

Additionally it crashed BSOD whilst browsing the internet lastnight, which suggests it's not graphics card issue or temperature isue.

I've had a look in device manager to if there are any of those question marks and there aren't any. All drivers appear to upto date as well.

Anything else I can check?
 
like i said u need to check your bios sounds like a unstable overclock it could be your ram might be set at wrong voltage or your cpu might just need a little more voltage to make it stable

u need to post your bios settings so we can give u better advice

not sure what else helps?

Also had BSOD just now playing COD MW @ Optimal settings and got this message:
"A clock interupt was not recived on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval"
