I've just bought a new system from Overclockers (had it just a week) and since the first time of using it, it crashes after startup about one time in three. Once it's been in use for a while it seems fine.
This is what happens:
After typing in my password the desktop screen appears and just as all the icons are displayed the monitor goes black and the power light on the monitor changes from green to orange and the hard disk stops whirring. The fans are still turning but no input from the keyboard has any effect. The only way to get out of this is to press the reset button and then on start up I get the message that windows was not shut down properly. It's starting to become very irritating especially as I paid £800 for the PC but I have now loaded all my personal data and banking cookies for internet banking so I am very reluctant to have to return the machine.
I have not spoken to Overckockers yet as I thought someone here might recognise the symptons and there might be an easy fix.
My system is this one (clocked to 3.0 by Overclockers) in a Thermaltake case with 4 Gb memory and running Vista Home Premium 64: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-038-OK&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=&name="Ultima%20OC%20HD%204850"%20Intel%20Core%202%20Quad%20Q6600%202.40GHz%20@%20QX6950+%203.00GHz%20Quad%20Core%20DDR2%20System
Can anyone shed light on this prob please?
Nick
