Hi

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X 95 W 8 Core/16 Threads 3.8 GHz 4 MB CPU - Black
CPU COOLER: Corsair C W-9060007WW Hydro Series H60 High Liquid CPU Cooler
MOTHERBOARD: MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON Socket AM4 AMD Ryzen 7th Gen Athlon DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard - Black
RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP 2.0 High Performance Desktop Memory Kit - Black

I built the PC myself and this is my 2nd build. Everything works fine but each morning I start my PC it takes multiple times to boot then performs fine. However if I restart after using it for a few hours it boots up normally.

What's wrong with my build?

Could you give a bit more detail in the failed boot process.

Is the PC looping or do you have to restart it manually because it loads to a blank/black screen - i.e. 'no input device detected'?

If it's the latter are you using a DP lead to your monitor?

Sounds like a RAM problem.

It loops... I don't need to touch it at all, it loops maybe 3-4 times then it boots up normally. I did enable A-XMP profile 2 on my motherboard which sets my ddr4 ram to 2933mhz. My ram says its 3000mhz though but there's no preset for that.

I would do a search on your MSI board - i've read a few threads regarding MSI and memory and it's inability to attain 2933MHz - but i can't remember the flavour board (i build with Gigabyte).

I'll do a quick search and try and find the thread.

Could be faulty memory - but could equally be a compatibility issue. Do you have fast boot options enabled - if so disable.

I set my motherboard back to default settings and only changed the RAM to A-XMP profile 2 / 2933 ram and it seems to be booting up fine now. I also turned off core performance boost... Let me know if that was a good idea or not.

I hadn't noticed the system was clocked - if it was then knocking off the clock would have been my first suggestion as this would need to be ruled out and systematic of your symptoms.

So, yes, agreed run at defaults with memory at XMP and see if it remains stable. If it does - reintroduce the clock slowly in increments or if you had relatively low voltage throw more vCore at it. But, ascertain its stability at stock first for a week or so as the cold boot issue can take time to appear and be sporadic.

Additional: If your system isn't clocked Core Performance Boost should be fine.

Hey did as you said and left it back to default except the RAM changes. PC booted fine all of yesterday and can be turned off and turned back on without any issues.

However I left it off over night and booted it this morning and this time it took a 2nd attempt to boot properly.
**The PC turns on for a couple of seconds and then turns off and then straight back on and boots up with no issues or warnings**
