New to the forum only one i've registered to. so could u please help

current rig:
e6600 @ 3.0ghz/p5n-e 650i/evga 8800gts 320mb sc/4gb 800mhz corsair/
xp pro 32bit/thermatake 750w/antec 900/500gb WD/
samsung 22"(2232bw)1680x1050

Could possibly upgrade to i7 920 rig but dont like to spend the money,
kids need shoes after all.
Would it be a big improvement just to upgrade GPU to a EVGA GTX260 SSC, would the benifits be good and last 6 months at least.
I enjoy playing all the latest games but would like to see some nice visuals.

Possible i7 rig:
i7 920/p6t deluxe/4870x2 or gtx 280/6gb 1600mhz corsair/vista64 oem.
I would keep case, psu,hd,monitor. Please help sick of sifting through forums and reviews thought i'd ask direct to the people in the know!

Welcome to the forums :)

I think your current PC is still pretty good. E6600's are still good CPU's, 4Gb ram is great. You should see a nice improvement getting a GTX260. What about a 4850 or 4870 though instead?

cheers for the reply,
don't think the p5n-e supported ati cards, just hoping gtx will fit in antec 900, think it might from what i've read moving drives around etc..
Been nvidia bound for a while now, last ati card was a 9000 series. would most likely of went with 4870x2 if i was to build new rig, but if u think i'll be good for a while i'll wait for better market prices and what nvidia might have up their sleeve.

thanks mate.

Is that the vanilla P5N-E or the P5N-E SLi mate? The SLi definitely runs ATi cards fine.

its the SLI bud,
think i'll be on a winner if i go ati, truthfully i don't know, the core 216 seem pretty capable though.
little worried about pci-e 1.00/2.00 issues and cpu bottlenecking why pay for a card thats not giving u or cant give its upmost on your rig.
willing to take the plunge if i'll see gains big enough on my current system.
The worlds never perfect right!
