Am looking for a 48-55" TV to go on the chimney breast, the TV will be mounted on arm bracket at a higher elevation to where we'll be sitting around 5" away. I'm really struggling about which tv to buy with my budget of around £800. My options currently are
Usage will be purely streaming Netflix, Amazon, Now TV etc either direct via tv or connected via external box/pc.
Decent 1080P screen - Samsung ue48h6400 which I can get for around £460.
4K screen - SAMSUNG UE55KU6400 which I can get for around £800.
My problem is I try to buy right buy once but it seems impossible for my budget, so I'm stuck in a loop of going for a cheaper TV to tide me over til the tv spec I'm looking for is within price range. What really confuses me is 4K screens stating HDR support like the 4K screen above, when you dig in to the details you find out the screen can receive HDR signals but not reproduce them, which seems a bit of a con. A retailer recommended the LG
55UH661V screen, but reviews on another retailer website are really bad + it's an RGB panel apparently??, the last thing I'd like to do is spend reasonable money (to me) and then regret it.
Do I buy the 1080p which is around 50% the cost of a 4K screen which might not be a fully featured 4K screen with regard to HDR etc ?
Any guidance would be most welcome.
