HELP New Vista install and my NTL is extremly slow!

As the title says i recently installed Vista Ultimate and everything is sweet as excpet for the internet speed, im am connected thru a linksys router from my cable box. The net was super fast on XP but now im starting to lose the will to live and am considering removing Vista and going back to XP

I have a 4mb/s cable connection which is topping out @ 24.1kbs!!!!

Please help

Poor network performance is common in Vista unfortunately. I've suggested below 3 things you can try (not in any particular order). Hopefully one (or all) of them should get you back on track.

Try Control Panel -> Turn windows features on or off -> Untick "Remote Differential Compression"

Have you tried disabling IPV6? I the version I trialled it was enabled, which crippled my net connection

Network connection properties, ensure that the box that says IPv6 is unchecked.
