*HELP!* New wireless router, what's the optimal set-up?

Evening all,

Hoping someone could help me here. Just bought a new Belkin N Wireless Router and it has that many options I don't actually know what half of them are/do. On the old router I was getting around the speed i'm paying for (TalkTalk 8Mbps), a download speed of 700-900Kbps.

I'll try and give my info as pest as possible:

Location - Belper, Derbyshire (DE561JE)

BT landline, TalkTalk ISP

Basically, what are the best settings for my router for the best speed/lowest ping as I game.

Router settings are usually used for security and firewall tweaks. There isn't much you can do for speed / latency tweaks. These depend on your ISP anyway, and are better left alone.

As for speeds, make sure you're not mixing up kilobits / seconds, and kilobytes per seconds. 700kB/S is about 5.5mb/S.
