Hi guys, rig as in signature.
tried to OC a bit more to get BF2042 to play smoothly (its a 3.5 been running at 4.4 for years stable but i tried for 4.5) and it crashed a couple of time so i reset back to previous then it crashed and i cant get a display from GFX card or onboard gfx. any ideas? it shouldnt have damaged the GPU surely? i can hear the pc coming on but no output via hdmi or dvi. arghhhhh

i tried a cmos reset but no idea if it worked. im going to strip ot all down today and rebuild but dont have much hopes and no cash for a month to replace anything.

ok, i managed to get the GPU working in another PC so its not that. annoyingly i cant use the GPU in that machine as it seems to stop the ethernet working but im guessing its cos its only a 650 power supply not an 850 like in other pc.

850W more than enough. Good move anyway upgrading from 4 core!
the annoying this is that pc was still pretty fast, could play most games in ultra but battlefield is designed now for consoles with lots of cores. so it was struggling a lot.

i assume the connectors etc on the psu will be ok with the mobo ones? im really out of the loop these days. i did 20 years in IT then sacked it all off to run a woodwork business and ive forgotten so much over the last few years :D

Psu will be fine .

Mite want to get an aftermarket cooler for the 5600x as it can be a bit noisy.
wondering if i can mod the big noctura i had on this 4690k. the stock will be fine for time being tho, ill maybe look at a new one if i want to OC but at the moment OCing not top of my list after frying a perfectly good PC haha.

just thinking, with uefi, how will i get my serial number for windows back? i dont think i have a record for that one? if i just plug in my old install drive will i be able to boot from that and get it?

Did you link windows key yo your Microsoft account if yes you just go threw the change of hardware process. If its an oem key its one time use for that motherboard.

Windows keys can be had for £10 online.
