Hi guys, I have just bought the Hanns-G 28" widescreen monitor to use with my geforce 8600gt. I am having a problem getting the monitor displaying anything when loaded into windows when using the dvi -hdmi connector provided.

I am using Windows XP sp3 and have tried the 175.70 nvidia drivers as well as the latest 177.79 ones and both give the same result.

On bootup the monitor displays the bios and loading screen but as soon as windows has loaded when it changes from the logo to your display i just get a black screen.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot

the monitor only has vga input and hdmi input, the graphics card has 2 x dvi outputs and a tv output. I am using the provided dvi (graphics card side) to hsmi (monitor side) cable as i want a digital signal otherwise the quality is rather poor to say the least with a monitor this size running of an analogue signal.

I have tried a number of drivers from *** nvidia site, working my way down from the 177.* am now to 162.* and with the 16* series of drivers i am now getting block fuzzy colours that fills the screen for about 3 seconds then dissapears only to reappear a few seconds later. I continues this cycle.

I am assuming its a driver issue and you have mentioned installing the hdmi interface drivers. Are these seperate drivers from *** graphics card drivers? and if so where would i get them from?

Thank you for your response and if you think of anything else please let me know

Cheers

Just tried what you suggested philjohn to no avail. Its still pulling up th eblock colours every 3 seconds but after its done this 3 times it flickers to the display for a split second then back to the colours.
I am baffles as to why it owuld be doing this and i really dont want to have to go out and buy a dedicated hdmi output card as i have only just bought this one i am using.
I have tried loads of drivers and whats baffling me the most is that when windows is using the standard vga drivers it works with the dvi-hdmi cable!! but obviously the screen draw rate is useless and i am imagining gaming would be a joke.
I am at a loss as to what to try next

cannot get another computer to try it on but like i said before it works fine in safe mode and without drivers loaded. I am wondering if this is a driver/card/monitor incompatability that can only be solved by changing the graphics card to a less "cheap" one as i susspect Xpert Vision aren't one of the 'upper' graded makers of video components but i don't really know, am just clutching at straws now

have tried setting it up in dual mode with my old 19" lcd and still no joy. works great with the vga connector but not at all with the hdmi. tried reinstalling the latest 179.79 drivers and still no joy. seems odd that it doesn't have any problems in safe mode or with no drivers installed.
