Hi everyone, I hope you knowledgable people can give me a few tips to resolve my cusrrent problem, apologies for the long post.
Around 3 months ago I bought an athlon64 3400+ s754 desktop replacement CPU. I managed to get the motherboard to detect it correctly by enabling cool n quiet. It has been working great ever since. When it was originally installed I had a an AGP 6800ultra video card. Since then I have sold the card and purchased a 6600GT to make a bit of cash. Installed the new card, has been working fine for the last month or so.
Since I ve redecorated the lounge, I decided to move the PC downstairs. I bought a nice hideaway workstation to put it in. Connected everything back up bar the NTL cable modem. Switched the machine on, worked fine. Shut it down. Plugged in the modem, now I m not getting a display, monitor is stuck in standby.
When I originally installed the DTR cpu with the 6800 it would come up with 'CPU overclocking failed' at the latter stage of POST with a few beeps. Switching on cool n quiet sorted it. The 6600 doesn't give a display. I'm pretty sure the machine is POSTing in a way because ctrl+alt+del restarts the machine and numlock, capslock and scrolllock all work.
I'm running my monitor through a DVI cable, the video card is a dual DVI type. Would it be worth trying it through a standard Dsub?
Anyone have any other ideas?
